EMISSIONS RECALL 91E07
IMPORTANT INFORMATION CONCERNING THIS RECALL

THIS RECALL INVOLVES THE REPLACEMENT OF EXHAUST SYSTEM CATALYSTS ON CERTAIN 1988 AND 1989 - MODEL
CALIFORNIA 2.3L ENGINE EQUIPPED PASSENGER CARS.

THE FOLLOWING IS A BRIEF OUTLINE OF THIS RECALL:

^ PARTS RETURN

REMOVED CATALYSTS MUST BE RETURNED. PARTS DISPOSITION TAG FPS-700 WILL BE ISSUED. FAILURE TO RETURN THE
REMOVED CATALYSTS WILL RESULT IN CLAIM CHARGE BACK. REFER TO THE PARTS RETURN INSTRUCTIONS CONTAINED IN
ATTACHMENT II, AND TO WARRANTY AND POLICY MANUAL SECTION 7.0, PAGES 7 AND 10. PARTS DISPOSITION TAG (FPS-700)
WILL BE ISSUED FOR EACH CLAIM SUBMITTED.

NOTE:
REMOVED CATALYSTS ARE TO BE RETURNED TO THE ADDRESS SHOWN ON THE REVERSE OF THE FPS-700 TAG.

^ PARTS KITS

TWO DIFFERENT SELF-CONTAINED PARTS KITS ARE AVAILABLE TO PERFORM THIS RECALL DEPENDING UPON THE DRIVELINE
(FRONT OR ALL-WHEEL DRIVE) OF THE CAR BEING SERVICED. PLEASE HAVE THE NECESSARY KITS AVAILABLE.

^ RECALL PROOF OF CORRECTION CERTIFICATE

PROVIDE EACH OWNER OF A CAR SERVICED BY THIS RECALL WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA "VEHICLE EMISSION RECALL -
PROOF OF CORRECTION CERTIFICATE".

Ford Motor Company is voluntarily recalling certain 1988 and 1989 - Model 2.3L engine equipped Tempo and Topaz cars (Emissions Recall 91E07).
Your car's engine may be releasing air pollutants which exceed California standards.

What the Dealer Will Do
At no cost to you, your dealer will replace the exhaust system catalyst on your car according to the instructions provided by Ford.

This service should have little or no effect on your car except to reduce air pollutants.

If you do not have this service done,

Your emissions warranty may be reduced,

Your car may not pass emissions or smog tests that may be required in your area,

The California Department of Motor Vehicles may not renew your car's registration.

How long will it take?
The time needed to repair your car is about one hour. However, due to service scheduling times, your dealer may need your vehicle for one full working
day.

Call your dealer
Call your dealer without delay. Ask for a service date and if parts are in stock.

If your dealer does not have the parts in stock, they can be ordered before scheduling your service date. Parts would be expected to arrive within a week.

When you bring your car in, present this letter to the dealer.

If you misplace this letter, your dealer will still do the work, free of charge.
