ISSUE:
Stumble, hesitation or a buck/jerk condition while accelerating during engine warm-up with the A/C in the A/C or defroster mode may be
caused by the engine fan controller. The EEC IV processor may misinterpret the electrical signal from the engine fan controller which
causes the processor to miscalculate the spark advance.
ACTION:
Perform normal diagnostics to determine if a new engine fan controller is required. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
1.
Perform normal diagnostics. Service all EEC IV codes as required.
2.
If normal diagnostics indicate the need to replace the engine fan controller, proceed to Step 5. If no EEC IV codes are displayed, proceed to Step
3.
3.
Turn the climate control selector to the "OFF" position.
4.
Road test the vehicle. If the driveability symptoms are gone, proceed to Step 5.
5.
Install a new engine fan controller, (E93Z-8B658-A). Refer to the appropriate model year Car Shop Manual, Section 27 for removal and
installation instructions.
