Knee Diverter: Service and Repair

1.

Remove two screws from steering column opening trim panel and remove panel.

2.

Remove two screws attaching bottom of diverter to instrument panel lower brace.

3.

Remove two nuts securing knee diverter to instrument panel and remove diverter.

4.

Position two upper knee diverter slots over weld studs on instrument panel and loosely install two nuts, torquing to 5---8 ft. lbs.

5.

Position knee diverter so weld nuts on lower flange align with respective clearance holes in instrument panel lower reinforcement.

6.

Install two screws attaching diverter to instrument panel lower reinforcement and torque all bolts and nuts to 5---8 ft. lbs.

7.

Position steering column opening trim panel to instrument panel, ensuring clips are installed in retaining holes, then secure with two screws,
torquing to 9---17 inch lbs.
