Article No. 89-2-9
AIR INTAKE SYSTEM - RESONATOR - 2.3L HSC - DELETION OF ONE MOUNTING SCREW AND GROMMET
FORD:

1988-89 TEMPO

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1988-89 TOPAZ

ISSUE:

One of the four resonator mounting screws has been deleted to prevent damage to the 12A581 wire harness. This does not affect the function
or durability of the resonator. Attempts to replace this screw may damage (pinch) the 12A581 wire harness located directly below the
resonator assembly.

FIGURE 15

ACTION:

Do not replace the "missing" resonator screw. The screw and grommet that has been deleted is the one that is closest to the 12A581 wire
harness and furthest from the front of the vehicle, Figure 15. Remove and throw away the grommet if it has been left on the resonator
assembly.
