Wiper Motor: Testing and Inspection

For wiring diagrams, refer to SCHEMATIC DIAGRAMS/ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC DIAGRAMS.

High Speed Test

1.

Turn ignition switch to ON.

2.

Turn wiper switch to HI.

3.

Check voltage at motor connector (blue/orange wire) terminal 56. If voltage is present proceed to step 5.

4.

If voltage is not present proceed as follows:
a. Check voltage at wiper switch (red wire) terminal 63. If voltage is present, replace wiper switch.
b. If voltage is not present at terminal 63, check circuit back to source.

5.

If voltage is present at terminal 56 and motor will not run, proceed as follows:
a. Ground motor to body.
b. If motor runs, repair ground.
c. If motor does not run, replace motor.

Low Speed Test

1.

Turn ignition switch to ON.

2.

Turn wiper switch to LO.

3.

Check voltage at motor connector (white wire) terminal 58. If voltage is present proceed to step 5.

4.

If voltage is not present proceed as follows:
a. Check voltage at (red wire) terminal 63. If voltage is present, replace wiper switch.
b. If voltage is not present at terminal 63, check circuit back to source.

5.

If voltage is present at terminal 58 and motor will not run, proceed as follows:
a. Ground motor to body.
b. If motor runs, repair ground.
c. If motor does not run, replace motor.

Park Operation Test

1.

Turn ignition switch to ON.

2.

Turn wiper switch to OFF.

3.

Check voltage at motor and park switch connectors (black/pink wire) terminal 28, (white wire) terminal 58, and (red wire) terminal 63. If voltage
is not present at all three terminals, proceed to steps 5 through 7.

4.

If voltage is present at all three terminals and wipers are not parked, proceed as follows:
a. Ground motor to body.
b. If motor parks, repair ground.
c. If motor does not park, replace motor.

5.

If voltage is present only at terminal 63, replace wiper motor.

6.

If voltage is present only at terminals 28 and 63, replace wiper switch.

7.

If voltage still is not present at terminal 58, check terminals 28 and 58 back to wiper switch.

Disconnect wiper motor linkage.

2.

Disconnect wiper motor electrical connector.
