Power Steering Pressure Switch: Description and Operation

Power Steering Pressure (PSP) Switch

PURPOSE

The Power Steering Pressure (PSP) switch signals the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) when high system pressure causes an extra load on the
engine. When the PCM receives the input signal, it compensates by adjusting idle speed and initiating A/C cutoff when necessary.

OPERATION

This is an ON/OFF switch that closes when hydraulic pressure reaches approximately 400-600 psi.
