This TSB is being republished in its entirety to include the 1993 model years.
ISSUE:
Customers may experience high effort and/or binding when rolling the window glass. This may be caused by a variation of slipcoat coating in the
channel of glass run assemblies.
ACTION:
Replace the slipcoated glass runs with revised "flocked" glass runs which provide improved durability. Refer to the following procedure for service
details.
1.
Remove the door trim panel and watershield. Refer to the appropriate model year Escort/Tracer Service Manual, Section 01-05, for removal
instructions.
2.
Remove the glass assembly. Refer to the appropriate model year Escort/Tracer Service Manual, Section 01-11, for removal instructions.
3.
Carefully remove the glass run.
4.
Install a revised flocked glass run. Refer to the parts block for correct parts usage:
a.
Install the glass run, corners first.
b.
Install the glass run blow-out clip, outside (plastic) first.
c.
Press inside (steel) part until it snaps into place.
5.
Reinstall the glass assembly. Refer to the appropriate model year Escort/Tracer Service Manual, Section 01-11, for installation instructions.
6.
Install the watershield, trim panel and all related parts. Refer to the appropriate model year Escort/Tracer Service Manual, Section 01-05, for
installation details.
