Brake Drum: Testing and Inspection
Remove the brake drum and measure it with Rotunda Brake Drum Micrometer 104-00046 or equivalent. Replace the brake drum if it is worn beyond
251.5mm (9.9 inches).
1. Inspect the inside of the brake drum for scratches and uneven or abnormal wear.
CAUTION: Check the brake drum-to-shoe contact after repairing or replacing the brake drum.
2. Repair minor damage or replace the brake drum if damage is excessive.
3. Measure the inside diameter of the brake drum using Rotunda Brake Drum Micrometer 104-00046 or equivalent.
Standard Inner Brake Drum Diameter
4. The standard inner brake drum diameter is 250.0mm (9.84 inches). Replace the brake drum if the diameter is more than 251.5mm (9.90 inches).
