11. Install the upper retracting spring in the slot on the secondary brake shoe and lining and in the slot on the brake shoe adjusting lever. The brake
shoe adjusting lever should contact the brake adjuster screw.
12. Install the brake drum.
CAUTION: Do not manually adjust the rear brake shoes and linings.
Adjust the rear brake shoes and linings by sharply applying the brakes several times while driving the vehicle alternately forward and backwards.
Check brake operation by making several stops while driving forward.
