Parking Brake Lever: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Remove the LH inner kick panel and RH inner kick panel. 
2. Remove the LH cowl side trim panel and RH cowl side trim panel.
3. Remove the accelerator pedal stop screw and remove the accelerator pedal stop.
4. Pull back the floor carpet to the front seats.
5. Remove the four parking brake opening cover plate bolts and remove the parking brake opening cover plate.

Lever Mechanism Nuts

6. Remove the three lever mechanism nuts.

7. Disengage the front parking brake cable bushing from the parking brake control lever.
8. Raise and support the vehicle. 

9. Remove the cable adjustment nut.
10. Remove the parking brake control lever.

INSTALLATION 

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Tighten the parking brake opening cover plate bolts to 3-4 Nm (27-35 inch lbs.). Tighten the lever

mechanism nuts to 8-10 Nm (71-88 inch lbs.).

2. Adjust the parking brake rear cable and conduit. See: Parking Brake Cable/Adjustments
