Crankshaft Gear/Sprocket: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the timing belt.
3. Remove the outer timing belt guide crankshaft sprocket, crankshaft keys, and the inner timing belt guide.
INSPECTION
Inspect the crankshaft sprocket for warping or abnormal wear. Inspect the crankshaft sprocket teeth for wear, deformation, chipping, or other damage.
Replace as necessary.
INSTALLATION
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
NOTE: Clean the crankshaft sprocket mounting surface to ease installation of the crankshaft sprocket.
