Drive Belt: Service and Repair
Water Pump and Power Steering

To ensure maximum drive belt life and proper component operation, replacement drive belts must be the same type and size as the original drive belts.
When installing a new drive belt, ensure that it is properly seated on the pulleys.

NOTE:  Mark the direction of rotation on the drive belt with a marking pen to ensure correct installation if the drive belt is to be reused. Failure to do so
may result in drive belt noise.

REMOVAL

1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the engine and transmission splash shield bolts and the two engine and transmission splash shield screws.
3. Remove the RH front fender splash shield.

4. Loosen the water pump and power steering pump drive belt idler pulley locknut.

5. Relieve the drive belt tension by turning the water pump and power steering pump drive belt idler pulley adjustment bolt clockwise.
6. Remove the water pump and power steering pump drive belt from the water pump pulley, power steering pump pulley, and crankshaft pulley.

INSTALLATION

1. Inspect the pulleys for warping or abnormal wear. Replace any damaged pulleys. 
2. Position the water pump and power steering pump drive belt on the water pump pulley, power steering pump pulley, and crankshaft pulley.
3. Adjust the water pump and power steering pump drive belt tension.
4. Tighten the water pump and power steering pump drive belt idler pulley locknut to 33-37 Nm (24-28 ft. lbs.).
5. Position the RH front fender splash shield.
6. Install the engine and transmission splash shield bolts and the two engine and transmission splash shield screws.
7. Lower the vehicle.
