Timing Belt: Testing and Inspection
Timing Belt Deflection
1. Apply 98 N (22 lb) of force on the timing belt between the RH and LH camshaft sprockets.
2. Measure the timing belt deflection. Timing belt deflection should be between 13-15mm (0.5-0.6 inch). if timing belt deflection is not within
specification, perform the timing belt adjustment procedure. If the timing chain/belt cannot be adjusted to within the specifications, the timing
chain/belt may be stretched and will have to be replaced.
