Heater Control Valve: Description and Operation
Heater Water Control Solenoid
The heater water control solenoid is located on the bulkhead behind the intake manifold. When the vehicle is started and the rear blower motor is off,
nine volts is applied to the heater water control solenoid. Vacuum is allowed to pass through the heater water control solenoid and the heater water
control valve is closed, stopping coolant flow to the rear heater core. When the vehicle is started and the rear blower motor is activated by either the front
or rear climate control assembly, voltage is decreased to zero volts. Vacuum cannot pass through the heater water control solenoid and the heater water
control valve opens, allowing coolant to flow to the rear heater core.
