Headlamp Switch: Testing and Inspection
Autolamp Switch
NOTE: The autolamp switch is an integral part of the autolamp/light switch rheostat resistor.
1. Key OFF.
2. Remove the autolamp switch.
3. Place the autolamp switch in the minimum time delay position.
4. Measure the resistance between terminals 4 and 1 at the autolamp switch.
5. Slowly increase the time delay on the autolamp switch.
6. The resistance should gradually increase from 3.5 K ohms to 197 K ohms.
7. Place the autolamp switch in the minimum time delay position again.
8. Measure the resistance between terminals 2 and 4 at the autolamp switch.
9. Slowly increase the time delay on the autolamp switch.
10. The resistance should always be less than 5 ohms.
11. If the autolamp switch does not operate as specified, replace the autolamp/light switch rheostat resistor. otherwise, return to the Pinpoint Tests.
