Fluid - A/T: Service and Repair
Fill
1. Install the two oil pan magnets.
CAUTION: The magnetic field created by the oil pan magnets disturbs the operation of the solenoids. To ensure proper solenoid operation,
install the oil pan magnets in the same location where they were removed.
2. Place a new oil pan to case gasket on the transmission fluid pan and install the transmission fluid pan. Install and tighten new transmission oil pan
bolts in a crisscross pattern to 7-9 Nm (62-79 inch lbs.).
3. Install the transmission drain plug and a new transmission drain plug gasket. Tighten the transmission drain plug to 29-39 Nm (22-29 ft. lbs.)
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Refill the transaxle with transmission fluid in the amount noted while draining.
NOTE: To fill a dry transaxle and torque converter, use 9.4 liters (8.25 qts.) of MERCON transmission fluid. Check the transmission fluid level.
MERCON(R) automatic Transmission Fluid is being replaced by MERCON(R) V as a service fluid, as per TSB 06-14-4.
6. Check the transmission fluid level.
