Catalyst Shield: Service and Repair
Three Way Catalytic Converter Shield
REMOVAL
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the four three way catalytic converter lower heat shield bolts and remove the lower heat shield.
NOTE:
-
The three way catalytic converter upper heat shield can be removed by lowering the exhaust system components behind the flex pipe.

Disconnect the downstream Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.
3. Support the exhaust system.
4. Remove the two support bracket bolts and the four washers.
5. Position the ground strap aside.
6. Remove the five muffler/resonator assembly mounting hooks from the rubber hangers.
7. Lower and support the exhaust system.
8. Remove the six three way catalytic converter upper heat shield nuts and the upper heat shield.
INSTALLATION
To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Tighten the three way catalytic converter upper heat shield nuts to 5-7 Nm (43-61 in lb).

Tighten the three way catalytic converter lower heat shield bolts to 5-7 Nm (43-61 in lb).
-
Tighten the support bracket bolts to 13-16 Nm (9-12 ft lb).
