Place fuel tank on jack.
3.
Raise fuel tank to installed position.
4.
Position the fuel tank straps, then install the fuel tank strap retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 29-35 Nm (21-26 lb/ft).
5.
Remove the jack.
6.
Connect the fuel pump electrical connector, then attach the connector to the crossmember.
7.
Reconnect the fuel tank filler pipe vent hose at the filler pipe.
8.
Reconnect the fuel tank filler pipe hose to the fuel tank filler pipe.
9.
Connect the evaporative emission hose to the evaporative emission valve.
10.
Install the new fuel supply hose and return hose using new clamps.
11.
Position fuel tank front protector on the fuel tank.
12.
Install the three (3) fuel tank front protector bolts. Tighten the bolts to 4.4-5.4 Nm (39-47 lb/in).
13.
Install two (2) push pins into fuel tank front protector.
14.
Lower vehicle.
15.
Fill fuel tank.
16.
Start vehicle and check for leaks.

Affected Vehicles
Certain 1997 Villager vehicles built from 9/16/96 through 9/23/96 at the Ohio Assembly Plant. 1318 vehicles were produced during this time period.
However, only 317 vehicles will require jumper hose replacements.
Attention Parts Managers
DO NOT OVER ORDER PARTS - ONLY 317 VEHICLES NATIONWIDE REQUIRE HOSE REPLACEMENTS.
Reasons For Recall
On some of these vehicles, the four short rubber hoses attached to the fuel tank may develop cracks or splits, which could result in fuel leakage. Fuel
leakage in the presence of an ignition source potentially could result in a fire.
To correct this condition, dealers are to inspect and, if necessary, replace the fuel jumper hoses on each of the affected vehicles. Only 317 of the 1318
vehicles will require hose replacements.
Do not demonstrate, or deliver any of these vehicles until they have been inspected/corrected.
If you have delivered an affected vehicle, immediately contact and advise the owner of the concern. Request the vehicle be returned without delay for the
recall service.
