Dome Lamp Switch: Testing and Inspection
Dome Lamp Switch
1. Remove the dome lamp housing.
2. Install a miniature bulb that is known to be good.
3. Turn the dome lamp switch to the OFF position.
4. Measure the resistance between the terminals that correspond to the "BR" wire and the "W" wire of the assembly. Measure the resistance between
the terminals that correspond to the "BR" wire and the "BK" wire of the assembly. The value should read above 10,000 ohms.
5. Turn the dome lamp switch to the center position. Measure the resistance between the terminals that correspond to the "BR" wire and the "W" wire
of the assembly. The value should read below 5 ohms.
6. Turn the dome lamp switch to the ON position. Measure the resistance between the terminals that correspond to the "BR" wire and the "BK" wire
of the assembly. The value should read below 5 ohms.
7. Replace the dome lamp housing if it did not pass steps 4 through 6. Otherwise, reinstall and return to the Symptom Chart. See: Courtesy
