Power Steering Pressure Switch: Testing and Inspection
Functional Check
Check operation of the power steering pressure switch if either or both of the following conditions are noted:

Engine stalls during parking maneuvers.

Engine idles at high speed.
1. Disconnect the PSP switch electrical connector from the PSP switch.
2. Connect a continuity tester, Rotunda 73 Digital Multimeter 105-R0051 or equivalent, across the PSP switch terminals.
3. Start the engine and let it idle.
4. The PSP switch should normally be open (infinite ohms or NO continuity) with the steering wheel stationary.
5. Turn the steering wheel toward either stop while watching the continuity tester. The PSP switch should close while turning (zero ohms or
continuity).
6. If the PSP switch fails either test, replace the PSP switch.
7. If the PSP switch is OK, check engine idle speed.
