Tie Rod End: Component Tests and General Diagnostics
This check may be done with the steering gear on or off the vehicle.
1. Disconnect the tie rod end from the front wheel spindle using Tie Rod End Separator T85M-3395-A.
2. Hook Spring Scale T74P-3504-Y over the front wheel spindle tie rod and measure the force required to move the front wheel spindle tie rod.
3. If the force required to move the front wheel spindle tie rods is not between 7.8 N and 29 N (1.7 lbs and 6.5 lbs), replace the front wheel spindle
tie rod.
