10. Check the piston, retainer and spring for abnormal wear or damage.
11. Check the fourth apply piston return spring, and the second apply piston return spring for damage or deformation.

12. Measure the free length of the second apply piston return spring.
13. The second apply piston return spring free length should measure 32.5 mm (1.280 inch). If the second apply piston return spring is out of
specification, replace the second apply piston return spring.
NOTE: When measuring the springs, always measure at the outermost point of the end coils.
14. Measure the diameter of the second apply piston return spring.
