Valve Body: Service and Repair
Cleaning and Inspection
MAIN CONTROL VALVE BODY
NOTE: Clean the control valve body assembly in cleaning solvent. Blow dry with compressed air. The shift solenoid assembly should not be
cleaned in cleaning solvent. It may be blown clean with compressed air or wiped clean with a lint free cloth.
1. Remove the valves and accumulators individually to prevent losing or misplacing valves or springs. Check for free movement and insure there are
no nicks, chips, burrs or scrapes on the valves.
CAUTION: If the valve sticks in its bore and cannot be freed, the main control must be replaced.
2. Check the valve and accumulator springs. Make sure they are not broken or bent.
3. Inspect the shift solenoid assembly wires for chafing and at the point where they connect to the solenoid and connector for breakage.
CAUTION: Splicing wires will change the resistance of the circuits of the electrical system. This may cause false information to be received by
the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) causing transaxle or other systems to malfunction.
