Temperature Gauge: Testing and Inspection
ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE TEST
1. Remove the instrument cluster.
2. Connect 10 A fused jumper wires between the following:
Instrument Cluster Engine
Coolant Temperature Gauge Terminal
Battery
B
Positive
G
Negative
3. Connect one lead of Gauge System Tester 014-R1063 to the instrument cluster engine coolant temperature gauge terminal S and the other lead to
the terminal G.
4. Adjust the gauge system tester to the following resistances:
Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge
Resistance (Ohms)
Hot (H)
15
Normal (High)
28
Normal (1/2)
50-100
Cold (C)
570
5. If the instrument cluster engine coolant temperature gauge does not operate as specified, install a new engine coolant temperature gauge (part of
fuel gauge). Test the system for normal operation. If the engine coolant temperature gauge is OK, then return to the pinpoint test. See: Instrument
