SUBJECT
Incorrect Convertible Top Folding

MODEL
R52 (MINI Convertible) produced up to 7/05

SITUATION
The convertible top should be folded outward (1) when being lowered to the stowed position. When incorrectly folded inward (2), a chafing damage may
occur over time. 

CAUSE
Because of part tolerances stack up on some affected vehicles, the convertible top may not fold correctly.

CORRECTION
In case of a customer complaint or if the situation is noticed during a service visit, install a folding lever kit.

PROCEDURE
For illustration purposes, the procedure is shown on the passenger's side. The same procedure must also be performed on the driver's side.

Remove the front convertible top seal per Repair Instructions RA 54 34 337.
Locate the convertible top mounting nuts at the rear
section of the side rail.
Remove the two lock nuts and lift the plate (2) to
install the folding lever (1). 

The folding lever (1) must be installed between the
convertible top mounting plate (2) and the metal
bracket (3).
Replace the two lock nuts and torqued to 4Nm.
Reinstall the front convertible top seal per Repair
Instructions RA 54 34 337
