Necessary preliminary tasks:

Connecting Battery

Remove storage compartment in instrument panel (driver's side) See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Glove Compartment/Service and
Repair/Removing and Installing/Replacing Storage Compartment in Instrument Panel Trim (Driver's Side)
Release nuts (1), tightening torque 61 35 1AZ See: Specifications.
Disconnect plug connection (2) and remove immobilizer control unit.
UK vehicles only:
The control unit of the electronic immobilizer is protected by a metal bracket. Nuts (1) are special tamperproof nuts.
Replacement:
Carry out programming/coding See: Testing and Inspection/Programming and Relearning/Vehicle Programming and Coding.
