Ball Joint: Service and Repair

31 12 042 - Removing and installing/replacing ball joint for control arm

Special tools required:

-

31 2 240 See: Tools and Equipment/31 2 240 Puller

Necessary preliminary tasks:

-

Remove drive shaft

-

If necessary, remove ride-height sensor See: Sensors and Switches - Suspension/Ride Height Sensor/Service and Repair/Replacing Front
Ride-Height Sensor

After completing tasks carry out wheel alignment.

Release nut and detach control arm with special tool 31 2 240 See: Tools and Equipment/31 2 240 Puller.

Installation:

Replace self-locking nuts
Tightening torque 31 12 3AZ See: Control Arm/Specifications/Control Arms and Struts (Front).
