Rattling Noise From Loudspeaker / Door Panel

R50 (Cooper), R52 (Convertible) and R53 (Cooper S) produced up to 09/04
SITUATION
While listening to music with lower bass tones, the customer may complain of a rattling noise coming from the loudspeaker on the door panel trim.
CAUSE
The door panel trim retaining clips allow vibrations at certain audio frequencies.
CORRECTION
In case of a customer complaint, replace the retaining clips with the improved parts on both doors. The improved retaining clips have been installed on
vehicles produced since September 22, 2004.
PROCEDURE
Remove the door panel trim of the affected door as per Repair Instructions RA 51 41 000 and replace the retaining clips. Ensure that sealing washers are
fitted to the new retaining clips when installing.
Note:
Do not replace loudspeakers for this complaint.

Interference Noise from the Loudspeakers

SITUATION
Interference noise from the door loudspeakers can be heard in all audio modes.
CAUSE
Cause 1: The door panel is improperly fitted (torsion, stress, etc.).
Cause 2: The loudspeaker wiring or the loudspeaker itself is damaged.
CORRECTION
Work through the appropriate test modules integrated in ISTA diagnosis.
Cause 1: Test module W6513_WAS1 Noise from speaker (refer to Attachment A).
Cause 2: Test module B6512_AudioCICR-Speaker (refer to Attachment B).
