Timing Cover: Service and Repair
Removing And Installing, Sealing/replacing Timing Case Cover (COOPER S)
Remove alternator drive belt tensioner. See: Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories/Drive Belt Tensioner/Service and Repair
Remove idler pulley (1) from front timing cover.
Deflection cover to timing case cover
M8 ..................................................................................................................................................................................................................... 45 Nm
Remove timing cover in sequence (11-1).
Install hint:
Align oil pump rotor flats with flats on crankshaft as you install the timing case cover to the cylinder block.
Tighten timing case cover in sequence (1-11).
Timing case cover to crankcase cover
M6 ..................................................................................................................................................................................................................... 12 Nm
Note location of the Torx shoulder bolt (1), Torx round head bolt (2) and bolt with seal (3).
Install hint:
Clean sealing surface.
Replace seal on bolt (3) and lubricate with clean engine oil.
