Carpet: Service and Repair

51 47 314 - Removing and installing/replacing carpet for passenger compartment

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove both front seats See: Seats/Service and Repair/Front Seat, Normal, Manual/Removing and Installing Left or Right Front Seat (Normal /
Manual)

Remove airbag control unit See: Relays and Modules/Relays and Modules - Restraint Systems/Air Bag Control Module/Service and Repair

-

Remove rear storage compartment holder See: Utility Storage Compartment/Service and Repair

-

Remove both inner entrance cover strips See: Scuff Plate/Service and Repair/Removing and Installing/Replacing Front Left or Right Entrance
Cover Strip

-

Remove rear seat See: Seats/Service and Repair/Rear Seat - Through-Loading System/Removing and Installing or Replacing Rear Seat

Remove lower trim from instrument panel See: Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and Repair/Removing and Installing/Replacing Bottom
Right Trim for Instrument Panel

Remove accelerator pedal module See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Accelerator Pedal/Service and Repair/Removing
and Installing/Replacing Accelerator Pedal Module

R55 only:
-

Remove cover on left entrance See: Scuff Plate/Service and Repair/Removing and Installing/Replacing Cover on Inside Left Entrance

Release bottom right side trim panel See: Scuff Plate/Service and Repair/Removing and Installing/Replacing Front Left or Right Entrance Cover
Strip

R55 with shelf package only:

Remove lashing eyes on left/right:

-

Release screw (1).

-

Tightening torque 51 71 9AZ See: Weatherstrip/Specifications

-

Remove cover (2)

-

Turn lashing eye (3) through 90° and feed out
