Door Lock Cylinder: Service and Repair

51 21 140 - Removing and installing/replacing complete lock cylinder in left or right front door

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Remove outside handle on front door See: Doors, Hood and Trunk/Doors/Front Door/Front Door Handle/Front Door Exterior Handle/Service and
Repair

Partially raise window cavity cover strip and release screw (1).
Tightening torque 51 21 3AZ See: Doors, Hood and Trunk/Doors/Front Door/Specifications/51 21 Front Door Locks.
Release screws (2).
Tightening torque 51 21 4AZ See: Doors, Hood and Trunk/Doors/Front Door/Specifications/51 21 Front Door Locks.

Position door lock (1) downwards a little.
Feed out lock cylinder (2) in area (A) and remove.

Installation:

Paddle (3) must be correctly inserted in door lock (1).
