SUBJECT:
AUDIO ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM
Purpose
This bulletin describes servicing procedures for the new audio Anti-Theft system used on 1993 Diamante and 3OOOGT vehicles. The audio system will
be disabled and require code reprogramming, if it looses power for approximately 1 hour or more. This power loss could occur during servicing other
electrical systems or if the vehicle's battery should become discharged.
During PDI, the operation of the audio system (radio) must be checked and if necessary, the code programmed into the unit. Use the procedures shown in
this bulletin for directions.
General Information
Each vehicle when delivered to a dealer has 2 Code Cards contained inside the glove compartment. Each dealer is requested to remove 1 Code Card and
retain it in a selling vehicle folder. This way if a customer should lose their copy of the Code Card, the dealer has the code readily available. Service
Managers will periodically receive a listing of the available codes listed by the audio unit's serial number.
Anti-Theft Audio Unit Identification
Anti-theft audio units can be identified in two ways:
1.
Look for a decal affixed to the driver's side window. The decal will read "WARNING
-
AUDIO WILL NOT WORK IF REMOVED."
2.
Look for the words "ANTI-THEFT" on the audio unit's tape cassette door.
CODE CARD
Printed on the Code Card is: code number, model number, and that particular system's serial number. THE CODE NUMBER SHOWN ON THE CARD
WILL ONLY WORK FOR THAT PARTICULAR AUDIO UNIT
3-Minute (Temporary Operation)
When battery power to an anti-theft audio unit is interrupted for more than 1 hour, the audio unit will not operate. The "3-MINUTE MODE" feature
allows technicians to check the audio unit functions.
