Idle Air Control Valve Position Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE/OPERATION 

The idle motor position sensor is a variable resistor type sensor that uses a plunger (contact) that is connected to the idle speed control servo and a
set of electrical windings that are stationary. As the servo moves, so does the plunger, changing the output voltage of the sensor. The transaxle
control module uses this signal to determine the position of the idle speed control servo.
