Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.

Remove ignition switch or lock cylinder in numbered sequence shown in Fig. 9, noting the following:
a. Remove steering wheel as outlined under STEERING WHEEL.
b. To remove the clock spring connector from the airbag module, force the lock outward and pry it with a suitable screwdriver as shown in Fig.
10. Ensure no undue force is applied when connector is removed. The removed airbag module should be stored in a clean, dry, flat place
with pad cover facing up.
c. Remove upper and lower steering column cover screws then remove covers ensuring not to break cover grippers, Fig. 11.
d. Insert ignition key into ignition lock cylinder and turn to ACC position.
