    Remove and install control cables in numbered sequence shown in Fig. 7, noting the following:

1.

Removal of key interlock cable (lever assembly side), proceed as follows:
a. Turn and loosen double nut on key interlock cable and remove cable from cable attaching bracket of lever assembly.
b. remove end of interlock cable from interlock lever.
c. Tie end of a string to end of removed key interlock cable and other end to interlock lever. This is to aid in installation.

Removal of shift lock cable (lever assembly side), proceed as follows:
a. Turn and loosen double nut on shift lock cable and remove cable from cable attaching bracket of lever assembly.
b. Remove shift lock cable end from lock lever.

3.

Inspection of shift lock cable, proceed as follows:
a. Check control cable for function and for damage.
b. Check bushing for wear or damage.

4.

Installation of Slide lever, spring, key interlock cable (steering lock side), proceed as follows:
a. With ignition in LOCK position, install slide lever to steering lock cylinder.
b. After installing spring on inner cable of key interlock cable, install key interlock cable to slide lever and steering lock cylinder as shown in Fig.

c. Install cable clip with its locking flange firmly engaged to attaching bracket of steering cover.
