TEST PROCEDURES
PURPOSE
This bulletin contains water leak test procedures developed for the 3000GT Spyder. These new procedures supplement those in Spyder Performance
Characteristics TSB-95-42A-002, Item 4.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
As explained in TSB-95-42A-002, leakage is defined as water that spills over weatherstripping causing the interior to become wet over a short time.
Seepage is defined as water that builds up at the weatherstrip and eventually flows down the glass and into the interior of the vehicle.
By nature, convertible tops will normally have some water leakage and/or seepage under certain conditions.
3000GT Spyder leakage and seepage characteristics are:

Normal
Signs of seepage at any or all of the compound roof joints are considered normal. As is common with any convertible top, leakage occurring when
the seal joints are flooded with large amounts of water, such as in an automatic car wash or when spraying the seal joint with a garden hose, is
normal.

Service Required
Under normal conditions, the vehicle should not have any water leakage. The vehicle should be serviced if water leakage occurs under normal
conditions.

PROCEDURE
WATER LEAK TEST
1.
Open the part of the vehicle to be tested for water leaks (doors, windows, hardtop, etc.).
2.
With a clean cloth, wipe clean and dry the sealing surfaces of the suspected leak area.
3.
Close the doors, windows, hardtop, etc. to prevent water from accidently entering the vehicle.
4.
Turn off the A/C, heater; ventilation blower.
Note:
Operating the blower will pressurize the vehicle interior. This may keep water from entering an otherwise improperly sealed area.
