Trailing Arm: Service and Repair

1. Remove trailing arm in numbered sequence as shown, Fig. 36, noting the following:
a. Using end yoke holder tool No. MB990767-01, or equivalent, secure rear axle shaft then remove self-locking nut.
b. Using axle puller and slide hammer tools, No. MB990211-01 and MB990241-01, or equivalents, remove rear axle hub.
c. Using ball joint remover tool No. MB991113-01, or equivalent, loosen and disconnect ball joint from knuckle. Loosen, but do not remove
ball joint nut.
2. Replace connecting rod as follows:
a. Remove trailing arm bushing.
b. Remove connecting rod nut and bolt.
