1. Disconnect field coil wire from "M" terminal of magnetic switch, Fig. 5.
2. Connect a 12 volt battery between "S" and "M" terminals. This test must be performed in less than 10 seconds to prevent coil from burning
out.
Pinion Gap Adjustment
3. Measure pinion gap with a suitable feeler gauge, Fig. 6.
4. If pinion gap is not as specified under Starter Specifications, adjust by adding or removing gaskets between magnetic switch and front bracket.
