Check the sub-EGR adjustment screw and if the white paint is broken or missing, adjust the sub-EGR valve as described below.
A.
Warm up the engine.
B.
Slowly open the throttle and observe at what RPM the sub-EGR valve linkage begins to move. The linkage should begin to move at the
following specifications:
Manual T/M Vehicles: 2000 RPM Automatic T/M Vehicles: 2300 RPM

Turn the adjustment screw of the sub-EGR valve so that the screw contacts the linkage at the specified RPM (Figure 7). To increase the
touch RPM, turn the screw counter clockwise. To decrease the touch RPM, turn the screw clockwise.
D.
After adjustment is made, apply a small quantity of white paint to the threaded portion of the adjustment screw.

Check to see if the idle mixture adjustment screw (MAS) plug is missing or if there is evidence of tampering. If the plug is missing or damaged,
check the idle CO and adjust the MAS as necessary (see page 14-13 in the 1984 Cordia/Tredia Service Manual for procedure if necessary) (Figure
8).

After adjusting the screw, install new MAS seal (plug) (P/N MD612905).

While the engine is running, spray carburetor cleaner around the secondary main air jet and choke shaft to remove any deposit material (Figure 9).
