Main Relay (Computer/Fuel System): Description and Operation
LOCATION
The MFI relay is located in the right side of the dash, behind the glove box.
PURPOSE
The MFI relay supplies positive current to the ECM, purge solenoid, air flow sensor, cam and crank sensors, idle air control motor, throttle
position sensor, oxygen sensor, variable induction control sensor, engine coolant temperature sensor, injectors, etc.
Multiport Fuel Injection Relay
OPERATION
When the key is in the ON position:

Current flows from the ignition switch to the ECM.

This turns the power transistor ON, energizing the MFI relay.

Connecting battery power to the ECM through the MFI relay switch.
