Drive Belt: Testing and Inspection

DRIVE BELT TENSION CHECK AND ADJUSTMENT

Check the belt tension by using a belt-tension gauge or apply 98 N (22 lbs.) of force to the belt midway between the pulleys as shown in the
illustration, and measure the deflection.

Standard value

GENERATOR AND AIR-CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR

DRIVE BELT TENSION ADJUSTMENT

1. Loosen the tension pulley fixing nut. 
2. Adjust the belt tension using the adjusting bolt. 
3. Tighten the fixing nut. 
4. Crank the engine once or more. 
5. Check the belt tension.
