LOOSE CENTER HIGH MOUNT STOP LAMP
This TSB supersedes TSB-06-54-002, issued April, 2006. The change is due to the stop lamp retaining clips now being available through the parts
system. The clip is no longer available through Techline. Revised information is indicated by asterisks.
PURPOSE
The center high mount stop lamp (CHMSL) may become detached from the rear glass due to poor adhesion between the attachment clip(s) and the
blackout portion of the glass. To correct this condition install new attachment clip(s) to the CHMSL with new adhesive as described in this bulletin.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
2002-04 Diamante models with center high mount stop lamp.
PROCEDURE
*1.
Remove and discard the loose clip(s) from the CHMSL. Replace only the clip(s) that have become dislodged.*
2.
Using the old adhesive markings as a guide apply tape to the sides of the clip installation area.
(If adhesive markings are not evident use the CHMSL as a guide for clip placement.)
3.
Thoroughly clean the mounting surface of the glass blackout with a cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol.
4.
Apply a small amount of 3M Single Step Primer 08681 and 3M Windo-Weld Super Fast Urethane Black 08609 or equivalent to the mounting
surface of the glass.
5.
Install the new clip(s) to the glass. Temporarily apply a piece of tape over the clip(s) to hold it in place while the adhesive dries which will take
approximately one hour. Remove tape after the adhesive has dried.
6.
Install the CHMSL to the new clip(s).
