SUBJECT:
TRUNK LID RELEASE AND WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER OPERATION

PURPOSE

Some customers may not understand how to open the trunk lid using the remote keyless (RKE) transmitter, or how to defrost the windshield. Operation
of these features should be demonstrated to the customer at vehicle delivery.

This bulletin describes proper operation of RKE trunk lid release and windshield defroster.

PROCEDURE

1.

Demonstrate trunk lid release operation to the customer:

To open the trunk, press the trunk lid release switch on the transmitter twice within 5 seconds. This is a design feature of the transmitter to avoid
accidental trunk opening. To close the trunk lid, you must manually push it shut firmly.

NOTE:

If the vehicle door(s) are accidentally unlocked with the transmitter, the doors will automatically re-lock if not opened within about 30 seconds.

Demonstrate windshield defrost operation to the customer. This feature is described in the Quick Reference Guide (under "For Quick Demisting")
in the vehicle glove box.

a.

Press the defroster button (called the "de-mister" in the Quick Reference Guide). The defroster indicator will illuminate. The air
conditioning compressor will operate automatically, using outside air to defrost the windshield. Selecting the hottest temperature on the
temperature control knob will make the windshield defrost faster.

NOTE:

When the defrost feature is used, you cannot turn the air conditioning off or select the recirculation position. This prevents the windows from
fogging.

Press the defrost button again to return the system to the previous setting.
