DTC 15 IDLE SPEED CONTROL MOTOR POSITION
PURPOSE
This bulletin provides a repair method for Diamond Star manufactured Eclipse 1.8L and Mirage 1.5L vehicles which have DTC 15 stored in the ECM
computer. DTC 15 - idle speed control motor position sensor-may be caused by a high resistance condition between the engine ground and the connector
to the sensor. The vehicle may exhibit intermittent symptoms such as: poor idle, rough idle, or may cease to run.
GENERAL INFORMATION
There are 2 splice connections inside the wiring harness leading to the sensors as the harness passes along the forward bulkhead near the battery. The
repair method involves soldering these 2 connections and adding an additional ground wire to a splice to ensure a proper ground circuit.

Pre-Inspection Procedure
1.
Test the throttle position sensor and the idle speed control motor position sensor using all the tests as shown in the appropriate service manual.
Both components must test OK before continuing this procedure.
2.
Inspect the condition of the 5 ground connections in the engine compartment and the ECU's ground connection as shown in the service manual.
Remove, clean, and secure these ground connections to ensure that they are clean and tight.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Record the radio station presets.
2.
Remove the battery, negative (-) terminal first, to gain access to the harness.
