ECLIPSE WINDSHIELD NON-COMPLIANCE
SAFETY RECALL
PURPOSE
The windshield on a limited number of Eclipse vehicles must be replaced due to potential solvent dilution of the adhesive primer on the windshield
opening body flanges. This dilution may affect the adhesion of the windshield adhesive/sealant to the body, possibly allowing the windshield to come
loose from the body. A letter has been sent to all owners of the affected vehicles telling them to return their vehicles to their Mitsubishi Motors Dealer to
have the windshield replaced.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
This Safety Recall applies to certain 1990 Eclipse vehicles manufactured on May 14, 1990 and May 15, 1990.
REQUIRED OPERATIONS
1.
Remove the right and left drip rails, windshield wiper arms, and the front deck lower garnish.
2.
Remove the upper windshield moulding.
3.
Remove the old windshield.
4.
Completely remove the old adhesive from the body flanges.
5.
Install the new windshield.
6.
Bond the upper windshield moulding to the windshield.
7.
Water test the windshield.
8.
Reinstall the right and left drip rails, windshield wiper arms, and the front deck lower garnish.
WARRANTY INFORMATION
Submit as Recall Claim type "C", menu option "E-5" on your Diamond Network Warranty
System. DO NOT SUBMIT AS "W" CLAIMS.
