VEHICLES AFFECTED
1995 Eclipse
Procedures
If the water leak is traced to the right side lower A-pillar, proceed with the procedures as shown. Refer to the 1995 Eclipse Service Manual, Volume 1, as
needed when performing the procedures as shown.
1.
Remove the glove box.
2.
Remove the four screws holding the glove box under frame and disconnect the light switch.
3.
Remove the right side instrument panel under cover.
4.
Remove the right side cowl trim.
5.
Pull back the right side floor carpet to access the evaporator mounting nut and the ABS control unit cover (if so equipped). On vehicles without
ABS, skip to Step 7. On vehicles without air conditioning and ABS, skip to Step 9.
6.
Remove the control unit cover and ABS-ECU bracket, leaving the ABS unit connected.
NOTE: On vehicles without air conditioning, skip to Step 9.
7.
On air conditioned equipped vehicles, refer to page 55-11 in the service manual and discharge the air conditioner system.
8.
After discharging the A/C system, refer to page 55-29 in the service manual and remove the evaporator and housing as a complete unit. Vehicles
equipped with cruise control will require removing the cruise control cable junction from the bulkhead and moving it out of the way to gain access
to the evaporator refrigerant hose connections. The cruise control cable junction is located on the bulkhead (passenger side) in the engine
compartment.
NOTE: The evaporator/housing assembly can be removed without removing the instrument panel.
9.
Referring to page 55-27 in the service manual, remove the blower assembly.
NOTE: The blower assembly can be removed without removing the instrument panel as instructed in Step 5 of the service manual blower
assembly removal instructions.
10.
Peel back the carpet pad to expose the seam in the body along the bulkhead and the A-pillar.
