ECLIPSE ENGINE MISFIRE

PURPOSE

Engine misfire may occur on some affected vehicles. This condition may cause the "CHECK ENGINE" light to come on and/or set Diagnostic Trouble
Codes 106, 107, 108, 109 or 110.

This Technical Service Bulletin describes diagnosis and repair procedures for eliminating engine misfire on affected vehicles.

VEHICLES AFFECTED

1995 Eclipse models equipped with non-turbocharged engine produced before 5/95. 

PROCEDURE

1.

Remove spark plugs and inspect for evidence of carbon tracking. Carbon tracking appears as one or more black lines down the side of the spark
plug ceramic insulator, and/or as a gray or white line down the inside of the spark plug boot on the ignition wire.

2.

If carbon tracking is evident, replace all four spark plugs and spark plug cables using the parts listed below.

The spark plug gap specification is 1.22 - 1.35 mm (0.048-0.053 in.).
