Center Exhaust Pipe Heat Shield Replacement
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
A "buzz" noise coming from the center exhaust pipe area when driving at approximately 2000 rpm could be caused by the center exhaust pipe heat shield
. If found to be damaged, replace the heat shield with the new service part, using procedures in this Technical Service Bulletin.

Vehicles: 1995 Eclipse models equipped with 2.0L non-turbo engine

VIN: Sequence numbers before SE028220
PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the two center exhaust pipe hanger bolts.
2.
Remove the two holding clamps securing the heat shield to the center exhaust pipe.
3.
Slightly pull down the center exhaust pipe near the pre-muffler.
4.
Remove the heat shield by sliding it forward then down.
5.
Replace the heat shield, using the part number listed in the "Parts Information section of this Technical Service Bulletin.
6.
Reinstall the holding clamps, ensuring proper clearance and fit between the center exhaust pipe and heat shield. Improper clearance or fit may
cause the "buzz" noise to reoccur.
7.
Reinstall the center exhaust pipe hanger bolts.
