Unplug the Fuel Pump Relay located in the rear of the engine compartment on the bulkhead.

Start the engine and let it run until it stops naturally to relieve the fuel pressure from the fuel rail.

5.

With the ignition switch in the OFF position, disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

NOTE:

Remember to record all radio settings before disconnecting the battery and to reset the stations and the clock when servicing is finished.

Remove the cap from the fuel rail pressure test port.

Relieve any residual fuel pressure. Use the hose from the fuel pressure gauge tool set, MIT210196, with fuel pressure test adapter MIT220433.
Position one end of the hose into an approved gasoline container, then attach the hose with the adapter to the fuel rail test port to release any
residual fuel pressure.

! WARNING

Do not allow fuel to spill onto the engine intake or exhaust manifolds. Place shop towels under and around the pressure port to absorb fuel
when pressure is released from the rail. Fuel is highly flammable. DO NOT do this repair on a hot engine, or around cigarettes, open flames,
sparks, or other sources of ignition. Wipe up any spilled fuel immediately and dispose of cleaning materials properly.

8.

Remove the hose from the fuel rail and reinstall the test port cap.

9.

Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose from the intake manifold.

10.

Remove the snap ring securing the fuel pressure regulator to the fuel rail.

11.

Remove and discard the fuel pressure regulator.

12.

Lubricate the O-rings on the new fuel pressure regulator with clean engine oil.

13.

Install the new fuel pressure regulator into the fuel rail with the vacuum port pointing downward and secure it with the snap ring.
