Reassemble the transaxle, following the instructions in Section 23G of the 1992-96 Automatic Transmission Overhaul service manual.

11.

Reinstall the transaxle into the vehicle as described in Section 23 of the appropriate Eclipse service manual.

12.

Adjust the automatic transaxle fluid (ATF) level as necessary and verify that there are no leaks.

IMPORTANT:

THE FOLLOWING TCM "QUICK LEARN" PROCEDURE MUST BE PERFORMED OR POOR INITIAL SHIFT QUALITY CAN RESULT

Perform the following TCM "quick learn" procedure:

a.

Ensure proper ATF level.

b.

Connect the MUT-II scan tool.

c.

Start the engine. Place the shift lever in Drive ("D") with Overdrive switch on.

d.

Drive the vehicle forward at least five feet.

e.

Place the shift lever in Neutral ("N").

f.

Apply the parking brake and allow the engine to idle. This will purge the air in the clutch circuits and prevent incorrect clutch volume values
which could cause poor initial shift quality or low mileage transaxle failure.

g.

Select the "Transmission Diagnostic" option on the MUT-II.

h.

Select the "Transmission Overhauled/Replaced" option on the MUT-II and follow the instructions on the screen.

14.

Using the MUT-II, confirm that no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are set in the PCM or the TCM. If DTC 12 exists, erase it. If there are other
DTCs, perform the appropriate diagnostic procedures and repairs described in the service manual.
